# Simulation of complete bacterium

There's some news about the first time a complete bacterium has been completely simulated on computers: actual lab and media report. Apparently though, it's based on one of the most incredibly simple bacteria known (some form of STD...) so it's not of immediate environmental use, but it's a step in the direction of being able to simulate more interesting things both to understand/predict existing organisms and if it becomes necessary to modify some to create specialist purpose ones.

Comment Source:Yes, this is cool - I posted about it [here](https://plus.google.com/u/0/117663015413546257905/posts/VeoguJWpbfL), and in the comments Blake Stacey penetrated some of the hype surrounding this story... but it's still quite an achievement, and there's some nice use of 'networks' in the software that simulates this critter!
