If any of you would like to do me a huge favor, please post a comment or question on week305. So far Tim and David have posted some comments about computer languages, but there are lots of other issues at stake here, such as:
when will have committed ourselves to causing the main current system in the Atlantic ocean to shut down?
how will we know?
what will happen if this occurs?
what other "climate change commitments" should we be worrying about?
what can scientists do to tackle these issues?
what can probability theorists and statisticians do?
and so on. A lot of big questions, with lots and lots of smaller sub-questions.
I'm really trying to get people interested in these questions - I believe they are among main issues of our time - so the limited response to "week305" thus far has me a bit bummed out. If you say something over there (not here!) it may trigger a bit more discussion.
