# Introduction: Michael Hurley

Hello all,

I have been teaching myself CT for a while now, and it is slow going. I am looking forward to getting a boost from this course.

I did my master's degree in Computer Science, but my undergrad was in Music. I am an amateur mathematician, by which I mean I have major gaps in my formal training, but pursue it anyways because it interests me. At present I work as a Web developer, and may have (inadvertently) helped popularize some CT/Haskell-y ideas in that arena, as one of the authors of ramda.js.

Hi! The way we're getting started, you just need to absorb definitions like "monotone map", think of examples, solve puzzles and talk to people. I hope it helps.
