Note on comment #485 above how engaged the Russian scientists are in open peer-review discussions. I am now noticing a similar activity with my submitted short idea paper

I counted 4 Russian scientists as being the source of comments based on ID'ing themselves or providing citations to their work: Serykh, Zotov, Sonechkin, and Sidorenkov. Good feedback that allows me to elaborate more on the findings.

It's still not clear whether the paper will get accepted, since the first review by a NOAA scientist was negative, but it's possible that it will stay online even if it gets rejected.
